एक नन्ही निर्भया हवा के परों पे चलकर हमारे आँगन में उतर आती है

कहा से तू आयी, क्यूँ तू आयी, यह नहीं बतलाती है।

मेरे घर की दहलीज़ के अंदर बाहर, गिलहरी सी फुदकती रहती है ।

अपनी चुलबुली मुस्कराहट से सबको गुदगुदाती रहती है ।

Noodles और maggi के भरोसे ज़िंदा रहती है।

सबसे छोटी है लेकिन सब पे हुकुम चलाती है ।

बेटी मेरी कब तू बड़ी हो गयी , यह अहसास तक नहीं करवाती है।

आज 14 बरस की तू हो गयी है , लेकिन बातें 21 वाली करती है ।

इन बड़ी बड़ी बातों से हम सब का दिल धड़काती है ।।

हम ख़ुशनसीब है जो इस देश में रहते है ।

जहां बेटी बड़ी तो जल्दी होती है,  मगर माँ बाप की नींद नहीं लेती है ।।

बेटी मेरी अब सयानी हो गयी है । बेटी मेरी अब सयानी हो गयी है ।।

English Translation “A Little Nirbhaya ( Fearless)”

A little ‘fearless’ being, you walked on clouds to reach our doorstep Where did you come from, why did you come, you did not tell us this
You are everywhere – inside and outside
Like a squirrel jumping around.
Your chirpiness makes everyone tickle with laughter
‘Noodles’ or maggie is the only diet you follow.
When did you grow up daughter? With you, we lost track of time
You turned 14 today, but you talk as if you were 21
Even though you talk ‘big’, your words fill our hearts with joy  
We are fortunate to stay in a country where girls grow up quickly
But parents don’t have to lose sleep over them
My daughter is now all grown up
Yes, she has grown up
And all we can say is – Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday!
